The hcg diet is very restrictive. It only allows the person on this diet to consume 500 calories a day. This is an extremely low amount of food which can be very harmful to some people. It has been equated to starvation by some in the healthcare profession. This low amount of calorie intake is not sufficient to give people the daily required nutrients and proteins they need. There are also some very serious side effects associated with this diet such as nausea, constipation, diarrhea, headaches, tiredness, water retention, dizziness, and vomiting and stomach pains. This diet is not for everyone. A doctor should be consulted, and the risks should be weighed before going on this diet.
